TheSherwood Vision 2040 Comprehensive Plan provides a guiding framework for the community's future - a vision for Sherwood's next 20 years.
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
TheSherwood Vision 2040 Comprehensive Plan sets a vision for the community's future and provides a blueprint to achieve that future through actionable steps. The plan is the City's official policy guide and helps determine decisions regarding land use, neighborhood development, housing, transportation, parks, trails, etc. In essence, it helps decide what kind of community Sherwood should be as it grows in the coming decades.
Who was involved in creating the Comprehensive Plan?
The overall process to develop the plan was overseen by a steering committee, which consisted of residents, representatives from community institutions and organizations, as well as elected/appointed officials. However, the plan truly works with input from the greater public. The plan process entailed multiple opportunities for community involvement through workshops, meetings, and online engagement, as it is precisely that community input that helped to drive the plan, and will continue to dictate the plans' implementation.
When will the Plan start and when will it be completed?
The plan process began in March 2018, with the majority of the documentation completed during the Fall of 2019. The next step was to have it reviewed by the Sherwood Planning Commission, which approved the plan on October 14th, 2019. The final step was a review before the City Council, who did adopt the plan by Resolution on December 16th, 2019.
How can I get involved in the process?
Public involvement was, and still is, very important. Although the plan has been adopted, your thoughts and ideas are still important. You may access the "Get Involved" page, which provides details all the opportunities to provide your input.
